The Akashic Tarot

published by Hay House

62 cards, 221-page booklet

This wonderful deck is more akin to an oracle than a traditional Tarot deck. The 62 cards come with a very detailed instruction and interpretation book (with quite small print, so you may need your glasses!).

Twin sisters Sharon Anne Klingler and Sandra Anne Taylor have drawn on their many years of study of the Akashic Records, as well as other areas of knowledge to create this deck.  You do not need to have any knowledge of the Akashic Records yourself to delight in this deck.

The deck has 22 cards in its major arcana and 40 in the minor arcana.   The minor arcana is divided into 4 suits: scrolls, roses, forces and keys.  Unlike more traditional Tarot, each card in this deck has its own name.  2 of forces for example (just because it's one of my favourites) is also called The Willow, and interpretations draw on the card imagery.  The images are a bit strange, with what looks like various components put together to make each one (more successfully for some cards than for others), but you get used to them pretty quickly and in terms of subject matter they do the job very well...and some are quite beautiful.

Cards have both upright and reversed interpretations, as well as a third section, Akashic Force,  which recommends a response/visualisation.  In addition, the sisters recommend that you trust your own intuition in your readings.

Since becoming familiar with this deck over a year ago, it has become one of my regular go-to's.  It's a deck that is applicable to many kinds of questions as well as the more general 'card for today' or similar.  I have found it consistently accurate and helpful, and highly recommend this deck.
