After The Ecstasy, The Laundry: How the Heart Grows Wise on the Spiritual Path
by Jack Kornfield
published by Rider
paperback, 314 pages
I was drawn to this book, mostly because of a recommendation from a wise person, but also because of the title. However spiritual you are, the laundry still needs doing, right?!
This is a beautiful book that explores what it is to pursue a spiritual path while living a life in the modern world.
from the back cover:
"Highly trained in clinical psychology and also as a Buddhist monk, Jack Kornfield uses intimate, first-person accounts to show what it is actually like to experience awakening, unbounded freedom and joy, a sense of union with the divine. He also offers compelling stories of people's efforts to translate that freedom into the daily life of difficult family relationships, struggles with earning a living, sickness, betrayal by those we have trusted - and death.
Full of practical suggestions, and alive with compassion and humour, After The Ecstasy, The Laundry is a landmark in spiritual literature and is certain to become a classic."
